Time away and some food porn

I can't believe it has been 2 weeks since I have been on my blog. It has just been a hard couple weeks. DH and I had to escape for some much needed sunshine, fresh air, and time together. We took time to just relax and enjoy the outdoors.

Our fur kids loved it! Josh packed our water, apples, tofurky jerky, and seed and nut bars in his backpack. You can barely see it, but it straps over his back and can carry 4 bottles of water along with a small amout of snacks. He loves it! Josh just puts down his head and goes for it. He is one outdoor dog. Shiloh on the other hand needs to smell every bush and take a potty break too. I always kid her that she should be a boy dog the way she marks everything. :o)

I love my DH. We had such a good time. I told him I didn't want to leave. There were no cars, no telephones, only the sound of the water rushing. I am hoping to paint some pictures that we took. We plan on going back on Monday if things work out. Just a day trip to find peace.

Brandie stopped by and I asked her to stand sideways so I could try and catch a picture of her baby bump. Well, it is barely there, but baby Huff is rock'n and a roll'n. Check out this aweomse video of baby Huff at their last ultrasound. I know, it looks like Brandie is holding up one of her girls, but actually she is just keeping her hand of potato chips away from her tummy for the shot. Sorry Brandie, but you look so darn cute I had to put it on my blog. :o)

My cooking has been on the back burner. Mostly leftovers and quick meals. Here we had some whole wheat spaghetti with Melody's awesome sauce and a Garden burger chick'n patti. They are so good!

Mother Hubbard's cupboards are kinda bare so Valentines dinner was heart shaped pancakes, heart shaped potato hashbrowns (baked not fried), tofu scramble and orange segments. DH said it was a fantastic meal. Simple, but full of love.

Love to all and hope to get some good food coming your way soon!
Get out and breath the fresh air. It really helped me this weekend.

You and the DH must have had a fabulous time - the scenery is gorgeous! I love how you call your dogs fur kids. Teehee.

Pregnant women are so gorgeous! Pregnancy is so fascinating to me. We just finished learning about pregnancy in our Nutrition in the Lifecycle class, and I would love to have a nutrition-related job working with expecting moms. :)

I've wanted to try the Boca Chik'n Patties for the longest time - are the Gardenburger ones better? And I love your V-Day dinner! I've never had a tofu scramble and pancakes (not to mention heart-shaped!) at the same time - sounds like perfection to me!

I'm so glad you're back :) :) :)

I'm so glad you were able to get away and recharge your "battery." Life is too short not to take an adventure every once in a while... (-: Great to have you back!

Your getaway looks like a wonderful happy place, and I hope you can get back there on Monday. Your hear shaped dinner looks perfectly delicious.

It's nice to have Brandie's bump to make you smile!

So glad you and your hubby got the chance to getaway for some quiet, peaceful time. Being outside always helps me remember what's important in life and give me time to reflect... not something you get the chance to do all the time!

Brandie looks sooooo happy! I've been keeping up with her blog as well and it's so exciting.

V-day dinner looks wonderful. I love breakfast for dinner. Hope you are doing well!!

I'm glad you were able to get away and enjoy that beautiful scenery with your hubby and fur kids! I have backpacks for a couple of my dogs too so they can carry their own water, it's too cute!

I'm quite thrilled to read and see all that you've been up to, while away from blogging - it's so important to be able to relax and breathe some fresh air. Glad you've been enjoying yourself! You deserve it! :0)

Haha, great picture of Brandie - so unbelievably exciting that you have a grandchild on the way!! :0)

it's funny you say that. it's so nice for me, too, to share progress with someone so close in their pregnancy.

i live in the middle of NOWHERE and often feel isolated from any fellow mommies in the making.

i only hope she's taller than i am and her baby has more room to grow! i'm expanding by the minute ! ;)
